Layer Cake (2004)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: col/2.35:1 105m
Director: Matthew Vaughn
Cast: Daniel Craig, Tom Hardy, Jamie Foreman, Sally Hawkins, Colm Meaney, Kenneth Cranham, Michael Gambon

Synopsis:

A careful drug dealer with an eye to cutting and running falls foul of his underworld contacts and a general run of bad luck.

Review:

What might have happened had Ray Winstone's character not made it to the Costa del Sol in Sexy Beast... A very slick number, with kinetic camerawork and tight editing underlining the often confusing interdependence and conflicting allegiances of an array of gangland characters (shades of Lock Stock, too, here). Craig is excellent in the lead, a smooth operator, but one who is only too human and capable of hubris. The likes of Gambon and Meaney offer sterling support.
