Lancelot du Lac (1974)
(Lancelot of the Lake)
Country: FR/IT
Technical: col 85m
Director: Robert Bresson
Cast: Luc Simon, Laura Duke Condominas, Vladimir Antolek-Oresek
Synopsis:
Lancelot's love affair with Guinevere does nothing to diminish his loyalty to her husband, the king, and protect him from the machinations of the bastard Mordred.
Review:
Bresson's piece of Arthuriana, all clanging armour and awkward entrances and exits, is a theatrical endeavour of mind-numbing tedium, punctuated once or twice by Pythonesque gore and dismemberment. Whatever the producers had in mind, the director casts his protagonists as mean-spirited, devious and hubristic.
