Knight and Day (2010)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/2.35:1 109m
Director: James Mangold
Cast: Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Peter Sarsgaard, Viola Davis, Paul Dano

Synopsis:

A rogue spy draws an innocent travelling companion into the struggle for possession of a revolutionary pocket-sized battery, and feels duty bound to protect her from the fallout.

Review:

Cynical studio (Fox) exercise in star packaging within the action movie format (cf. Mr and Mrs Smith): an extremely silly movie, which mixes comedy with violence to a disquieting degree and positions its characters in a variety of world locations without pausing to cover the logistical implications of international travel. (The complications of national travel with a risky piece of baggage are, after all, the premise for the entire movie.) Still, it is no different from those sixties variations with Messrs Grant, Peck and Hudson, so why whinge, and the star chemistry works pretty well.
