King Kong vs Godzilla (1963)

£0.00

(King Kong Tai Gojira)

Country: JAP
Technical: bw 99m
Director: Inoshiro Honda
Cast: Michael Keith, James Yogi, Harry Holcombe

Synopsis:

A US submarine inadvertently releases Godzilla when it collides with his iceberg, and a Japanese pharmaceutical/TV company makes for Kong island to square off against the giant lizard.

Review:

You won't believe it but they both make it to Tokyo... Don't scoff, this was the TV event of the year when ITV screened it in the mid-70s. Innocent times, indeed. Now, of course, it is of interest solely to completists, the Kong costume being particularly disappointing to devotees even of the 1933 classic. Like Godzilla (1954), this was also released with US acted trimmings, leading up to the big fight, and sixty years later came... Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)!
