King Kong (1976)
Country: US
Technical: col/scope 135m
Director: John Guillermin
Cast: Jeff Bridges, Charles Grodin, Jessica Lange
Synopsis:
A maritime expedition in search of petroleum deposits turns into a fight for survival when it comes across an island forgotten by time whose savage inhabitants make sacrifices to the mighty Kong.
Review:
Dino de Laurentiis's ambitious remake brought some advanced work in animatronics, but it still looks like a stuffed ape with rolling eyes, and the concessions to updating (WTC, jet fighter planes) seem gimmicky. Nothing in the performances make you feel: 'What a shame.'
