Killing Me Softly (2001)

£0.00

Country: US/GB
Technical: DeLuxe 100m
Director: Chen Kaige
Cast: Heather Graham, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, Ian Hart

Synopsis:

A games designer meets a famous mountaineer in the street and begins a passionate affair; however, her desire to uncover details from his murky past, prompted by anonymous warnings, leads her to suspect that the tragic incident in which he was involved had sinister causes.

Review:

Nothing in this film is credible, neither the characters' behaviour (even the minor ones, warning the heroine: 'You know nothing about this guy') nor the basic plot which is a rehash of Rebecca. The Hitchcockian atmosphere and situations appear contrived and dated, and the sex scenes, though opulent in the director's best style - and conceivably his only motive in shooting a western film - are innocuous and over-directed for our jaded times.
