Kill List (2011)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: col/2.35:1 95m
Director: Ben Wheatley
Cast: Neil Maskell, MyAnna Buring, Michael Smiley, Struan Rodger

Synopsis:

Two former grunts finding it hard to adapt to civvy street have turned contract killers. However, when a new contract appears to turn around the torture of children, the father of the duo's propensity for violence takes on an unbridled character that threatens to destabilize everything.

Review:

This psychological horror film begins in the realms of domestic drama and then turns decidedly nasty, finishing up as The Wicker Man. None of it makes any sense, and the duo's impenetrable regional English make subtitles indispensable anyway, especially with the near-constant noise of atmospheric techno-music. British critics loaded it with praise because it showed a British director being imaginative and resourceful, and it was extreme in a way only the French were supposed to do. Meanwhile the Ken Loach audience and horror fans alike ignored it.
