Kika (1993)

£0.00

Country: SP
Technical: col 117m
Director: Pedro Almodóvar
Cast: Verónica Forqué, Peter Coyote, Victoria Abril

Synopsis:

A make-up artist resuscitates and then moves in with the corpse she is employed to make presentable, but must contend with the possessive jealousy of the boy's father, and the predations of the latter's psychoanalyst turned 'media monster'.

Review:

The last truly punk film of Almodóvar's, a hangover from his 'shock' period, it includes an outrageous rape scene and ejaculation over a balcony onto Abril's upturned face! If you care to look beyond its excesses, there is of course a coruscating satire of the Spanish media here, which the succeeding decades revealed to be remarkably prescient on a global scale.
