Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love (1996)

£0.00

Country: IND/GB/JAP/GER
Technical: col 114m
Director: Mira Nair
Cast: Indira Varma, Naveen Andrews

Synopsis:

An Indian servant girl falls for a prince, and tricks her friend the princess so that she can have sex with him.

Review:

Daringly titled but ultimately rather coy piece of erotica, with novelettish characterisations and situations gift-wrapped in lush colour and nostalgia for a time that never was. Still, for an Indian film it was sexier than we were used to seeing: despite its feminist leanings there is no doubt which audience it is aiming to please most.
