A Kiss before Dying (1956)
Country: US
Technical: col/scope 94m
Director: Gerd Oswald
Cast: Jeffrey Hunter, Joanne Woodward, Robert Wagner
Synopsis:
A callous college student pushes his fiancée off the roof of a building when he learns she is pregnant, for fear she will be disinherited, then turns his attentions to her sister.
Review:
A fairly routine thriller, taking advantage of the new permissiveness. Once you get past its admittedly shocking dispatch of Miss Woodward, it is but a question of pursuing a course in abject villainy to its inevitable comeuppance, Wagner playing a variation on Hitchcock's Uncle Charlie but with the difference that we don't really like him.
