Justice League (2017)

£0.00

Country: US/CAN/GB
Technical: col 120m
Director: Zack Snyder
Cast: Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams

Synopsis:

Steppenwolf, the destroyer of worlds, returns to unite three boxes of untold power, with only Batman and a hastily assembled alliance of 'superpersons' to stop him.

Review:

And I thought Steppenwolf was a rock band... Snyder (with a little help from Joss Whedon) here melds his DC heroes into an Avengers Assemble-style smorgasbord of heteromorphs, with more than a hint of the X-Men about it. In what proved to be one of the most expensive films ever made, attempts at off-the-cuff humour fail to stave off boredom, with wall to wall CGI and generalised invulnerability militating against any sense of peril or empathy, save where Superman's family reunion is concerned. A waste of $300 million, it was succeeded in 2021 by an even longer director's cut.
