Journey to the Centre of the Earth (1959)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 132m
Director: Henry Levin
Cast: James Mason, Arlene Dahl, Pat Boone, Diane Baker

Synopsis:

A Scottish professor and friends follow an explorers' trail down an extinct Icelandic volcano to the centre of the Earth, where they discover dinosaurs and a dead civilization.

Review:

Utterly preposterous as science, of course, Jules Verne's novel nevertheless makes for cracking fantasy entertainment and receives excellent packaging from the Fox production and a dashing James Mason, in his second Verne role. The dinosaurs are of course iguana lizards with extra bits stuck on, but as long as you don't worry too much about the physics of it all it's fun for all the family.
