Jeux Interdits (1952)
Country: FR
Technical: bw 84m
Director: René Clément
Cast: Brigitte Fossey, Georges Poujouly
Synopsis:
Children survivors of a refugee roadside strafing by German aircraft settle into life on a farm when they are picked up, and begin to play their own game of keeping, and populating, an animal cemetery.
Review:
A beautiful film, with stunning performances from the children. Their corruption by the adult world is in fact far less sinister than anything the grown-ups around them are getting up to, and one is left to ponder on the meaninng of innocence.
