Jerry Maguire (1996)
Country: US
Technical: DeLuxe 139m
Director: Cameron Crowe
Cast: Tom Cruise, Cuba Gooding Jr, Renee Zellweger, Kelly Preston
Synopsis:
A sports agent has a crisis of conscience about maximising profit at the expense of his players and publishes a mission statement that promptly gets him fired. Together with the secretary who stayed loyal to his ideals he strikes out on his own with a solitary footballer on his books.
Review:
Overstretched, self-indulgent feelgood entertainment with appealing performers. For a time it looks as though we are getting an honest and unique example of Hollywood unrequited love between co-stars, but that would be denying the possibility of a happy ending (itself disguising the fact that this amiable piece of Americana has no ending).
