Jennifer's Body (2009)
Country: US
Technical: col 102m
Director: Karyn Kusama
Cast: Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, Adam Brody, Johnny Simmons
Synopsis:
The high school ugly duckling suspects that her best friend, the queen bitch, has turned into a bloodthirsty succubus after a botched virgin sacrifice performed on her by a wannabe indie band. (Seriously)
Review:
If you can swallow Amanda Seyfried as a nerdy plain Jane, then you can probably swallow even the above premise for yet another high school horror movie. This one seemed calculated to capitalise on Fox's pneumatic image from the Transformers movies while sexing up the 'good girl' vibe to femme fatale status. It raises the temperature once, in a girl-on-girl snog scene, before bringing the puritanical shutters down, whereas it blithely parades assorted casual mayhem and a mouth like a sewer. Not much to stay awake for here.
