Review:
As an upbeat racial story based on fact, and a sports film to boot, all this needed was a fine actor to play Mandela, and it got it. In essence, it's a good old-fashioned job of the kind of well-intentioned picture Hollywood always did so well, and Damon plays a humble second fiddle.
