Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: Technicolor 115m
Director: Philip Kaufman
Cast: Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams, Leonard Nimoy, Jeff Goldblum, Veronica Cartwright

Synopsis:

An environmental health inspector becomes aware through a colleague that citizens are being replaced by alien beings who hatch as replicas out of seed pods.

Review:

A reworking of the concept behind Don Siegel's classic 50s sci-fi thriller, with a big city setting and an inspired 'scream' innovation for when the aliens detect a terrestrial survivor. Acted with sober conviction, superbly directed and, if anything, more chilling than the original, it is a rarity in being a justifiable remake, a lucky charm it passed on to its successor, Abel Ferrara's Body Snatchers.
