Inner Space (1987)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 120m
Director: Joe Dante
Cast: Dennis Quaid, Meg Ryan, Martin Short

Synopsis:

After being successfully miniaturised inside a vessel capable of navigating the human body, an astronaut is injected into the rump of an unsuspecting bystander to avoid the technology falling into the wrong hands.

Review:

Spielberg's production jokily retreads elements from Fantastic Voyage and Back to the Future, and is mounted and edited with the customary flair. Happily, Dante's involvement also ensures that all the opportunities for fantasy and tension are seized with a refreshing capacity for wit as well as awe. In one scene, as it were a homage to the climactic moment of 2001: A Space Odyssey, the hero comes face to face with his own unborn child.
