L’horloger de Saint-Paul (1974)

£0.00

(The Watchmaker of St. Paul)

Country: FR
Technical: col 105m
Director: Bertrand Tavernier
Cast: Philippe Noiret, Jean Rochefort, Jacques Denis

Synopsis:

An horologist lives with his son in a suburb of Lyon, but his peaceful life is shattered when a police superintendent visits with the news that the young man has murdered a factory owner. The question neither can understand is why.

Review:

Tavernier's slice of Simenon is strangely unengaging, as if he has been too literal in his transcription of the original text. Two excellent actors are left with little to work with.
