House of Cards (2013-18)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/2.00:1 TV Series: 6 seasons (73 episodes of 51m)
Director: Beau Willimon
Cast: Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Kate Mara

Synopsis:

A corrupt Congressman and his Lady Macbeth use their intimate knowledge of the Washington 'swamp' to settle scores and advance their interests.

Review:

Based on Michael Dobbs' original novel, adapted by the BBC with Ian Richardson as Chief Whip Francis Urquhart, the long-running Netflix series was nothing if not thorough. Quality was written over it in spades, but whether you want to spend over 30 hours of your life in the company of the oleaginous Francis Underwood is a moot point. The last season was only 8 episodes long, which may have had something to do with the fact that it lacked Spacey's involvement after the actor faced allegations of sexual misconduct.
