Hercules Unchained (1959)
(Ercole e la regina di Lidia)
Country: IT/FR/SP
Technical: col/scope 105m
Director: Pietro Francisci
Cast: Steve Reeves, Sylva Koscina, Gabriele Antonini
Synopsis:
Hercules drinks from an enchanted spring on his way to Thebes to broker the succession, and becomes the amnesiac slave of Queen Omphale of Lydia.
Review:
One of the better of the 'peplum' cycle that dominated pulp Italian cinema until the arrival of the western. The cinematography is richly coloured, the women ooze sensuality and the screenplay is littered with Homeric characters.
