Hard Rain (1998)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: Panavision/DeLuxe 96m
Director: Mikael Salomon
Cast: Morgan Freeman, Christian Slater, Minnie Driver, Randy Quaid, Ed Asner

Synopsis:

Police evacuate a town threatened by a bulging dam, and security guards transporting the bank's cash are set upon by an eclectic bunch of looters.

Review:

Initially promising Die Hard heroics, this rapidly lapses into formulaic thrills of the customarily over-extended variety. Not only does this leave no space for character, but halfway through the film Freeman and Quaid swap roles and forces of order become forces of villainy (apparently the narrative was changed mid-production so as to be less a Dante's Peak disaster movie and more of a thriller). Little survives the incessant noise.
