Synopsis:

Review:
Kitano's first big international arthouse success, the film is again set in the milieu of the Yakuza and contains scenes of brutal violence, but also has moments of considered repose (featuring the director's own 'post near-fatal accident' paintings) and others of understated humour. An arresting puzzle of a film, slow but rewarding.
