The Girl Can't Help It (1956)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 97m
Director: Frank Tashlin
Cast: Jayne Mansfield, Tom Ewell, Edmond O'Brien

Synopsis:

A gangster, convinced that his moll has talent, charges a down-at-heel press agent with the task of turning her into a singing star in just a few weeks.

Review:

Nudge-nudge variation on Born Yesterday (the girl's talents are of quite a different order), even down to having the pair fall for each other, this is also a spin-off from The Seven Year Itch, with Ewell getting a consolation prize in the young Miss Mansfield, all too clearly groomed by Fox and Tashlin as the next Marilyn. It is what it is, brash, colourful and as broad as a Tex Avery cartoon.
