La gloire de mon père (1990)

£0.00

Country: FR
Technical: col 110m
Director: Yves Robert
Cast: Philippe Caubère, Nathalie Roussel, Julien Ciamaca

Synopsis:

Young Marcel Pagnol reminisces about his early childhood, his schoolmaster father's promotion, and their acquisition of a holiday home in the Marseilles hinterland, where he and his father bond during a hunting expedition.

Review:

The success of the Jean de Florette diptych made Pagnol a commercial dead cert for at least the next two decades. This delightful book about paternal glory and filial pride (and vice versa) is here given impeccable filmic treatment by Robert and his crew, even if it can get chocolate boxy at times.
