Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/2.39:1 136m
Director: James Gunn
Cast: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Sylvester Stallone, Kurt Russell

Synopsis:

Peter Quill and his friends/family upset their Sovereign employers by stealing on the job and their flight takes them into the protection of one Ego, a godlike personage claiming to be Peter's father, and his 'empathic' assistant, Mantis. Meanwhile, Yondu is back in charge of his Ravagers but seeking redemption.

Review:

The decidedly Men-in-Black tone of the opening credits does not bode well for this sequel, which moves the characters on a touch while expending countless dollars on CGI settings and jaw-dropping effects. It all borrows liberally from elements in Shakespeare's The Tempest, but sacrifices coherence for a free-wheeling approach, while never missing the opportunity for another 70s track from which to suspend the plot dynamics.
