Grand Canyon (1991)
Country: US
Technical: col/scope 134m
Director: Lawrence Kasdan
Cast: Danny Glover, Kevin Kline, Steve Martin, Mary McDonnell
Synopsis:
The lives of six Angelinos become intertwined after a banal neighbourhood incident. As they reassess their lives a force seems to be driving them towards an obscure epiphany.
Review:
Kasdan's second attempt, after The Big Chill, to write and direct a grand statement/ensemble piece comes off just as well. The observation is smart, the performances well-tuned, and even if the conclusion does not quite bear the philosophical payload we might hope for, at least it tries.
