Gilda (1946)
Country: US
Technical: bw 110m
Director: Charles Vidor
Cast: Rita Hayworth, Glenn Ford, George Macready
Synopsis:
In Buenos Aires a casino owner hires a gambler as house manager and puts his beautiful new wife out to sing, little knowing that they are both formerly acquainted.
Review:
The film for which Hayworth will no doubt be most remembered, and a key film noir of the post-war period. The hate thing seems dated now, as do all the contrivances in the dialogue, but the mood is still there, some performances survive and it is certainly a classic of its kind. All it lacks is a downbeat ending.
