The natural comedic follow-on from the British New Wave and films like The Knack: raunchy, potty and really quite sympathetic thanks to Lynn Redgrave's fresh performance. All those concerned seem to have had fun making it and, notwithstanding one or two unexplained plot developments (what happens to Meredith? And why does Jos leave?), that fun is communicated.
