Une femme mariée (1964)

(A Married Woman)

Country: FR
Technical: bw 98m
Director: Jean-Luc Godard
Cast: Macha Méril, Bernard Noel

Synopsis:

A married woman decides to have an affair.

Review:

Not the director's best work, with much 'empty space'. There are two noteworthy examples of his preciousness, or intellectual stature, depending on your point of view: in the first, two people ask themselves what 'regarder' means. Logically it must be to 'garder deux fois', and so what you are trying to 'keep' must be very valuable. Well, quite. In the other, used several times, the camera begins by framing a word of print, like 'EVE', then pulls out to reveal the complete word: REVES. Don't knock me, man: I'm fragile.
