The Frozen North (1922)
Country: US
Technical: bw 22m
Director: Edward F. Cline, Buster Keaton
Cast: Buster Keaton, Joe Roberts, Sybil Seely
Synopsis:
Unlucky Buster resorts to playing the gun-toting villain in a William S. Hart western melodrama.
Review:
Playing against type as a heel, Keaton introduces refreshing changes to the gag writing: the callous shooting of a couple he presumes to be his wife and lover. Still the vestiges of the familiar star persona remain the most enjoyable, and it is all rationalised by having him wake from a dream in his theatre seat at the end.
