The First Great Train Robbery (1978)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: col 108m
Director: Michael Crichton
Cast: Sean Connery, Donald Sutherland, Lesley-Anne Down, Malcolm Terris

Synopsis:

In Victorian England a master criminal puts together a team to enact the near impossible: robbing a bullion train while it is en route.

Review:

Pacy, witty caper movie based on a novel by the director, though with an embarrassing penchant for Carry On repartee. Connery is smug and Sutherland underused, but the train stunt work shot in Ireland is impressively matched. A nonchalant romp in which you can smell the grease paint; the best thing about it is the cracking score by Jerry Goldsmith, but you only get that over the main and end titles!
