The FBI Story (1959)
Country: US
Technical: col 149m
Director: Mervyn LeRoy
Cast: James Stewart, Vera Miles, Murray Hamilton
Synopsis:
The title says a lot, but the film focuses on the Ku Klux Klan, organised crime during Prohibition and Communist infiltration.
Review:
Thankfully Warners and LeRoy had the sense not to do a whitewash job on J. Edgar Hoover, and Stewart plays a (presumably invented) token senior agent. It's all well-mounted, uncontroversial stuff, with action well spaced, but a mite long for all that.
