Frozen (2013)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/2.35:1 102m
Director: Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee
Cast: Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff

Synopsis:

The heir to the throne of Arundel is kept in isolation because of a curse that bestows on her the power to freeze objects at will, and threatens the safety of those close to her. Her heartbroken sister is kept in the dark as to the reasons for her seclusion, leading to calamity come the day of her coronation.

Review:

Taking inspiration from Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen, and packing in songs guaranteed to appeal to the pre-teen and teen markets, while retaining the fairytale cutesiness it has made its hallmark, Disney here cannily synergised the target audiences of Tangled, TinkerBell and Hannah Montana. Unfortunately it forgot the adults, so we have big-eyed princesses and square-jawed heroes in abundance, cuddly trolls and a frankly irritating snowman, but no wisecracking sidekicks or drily witty courtiers; just a Norwegian general storekeeper with a sauna in the back. No matter, it made a mint, so bring on the sequel.
