Review:
Seminal horror film, and an amazing feat of production design and wit in adaptation, turning Mary Shelley's chaotic abomination into a childlike and frightened creature. The acting, editing and narrative are primitive, to say the least, by today's standards, and for so short a film there is a good deal of padding, but Whale went on to trump its impact with his masterly sequel, Bride of Frankenstein.
