Ferry to Hong Kong (1959)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: col/scope 113m
Director: Lewis Gilbert
Cast: Curt Jürgens, Sylvia Syms, Orson Welles

Synopsis:

A drunken drifter, having been deported by the Hong Kong police, is denied entry to Macao and finds himself the permanent guest of the ferryboat and its hostile skipper, until the day he gets a shot at redemption.

Review:

Colourful dip into Conradian waters by the Rank Organisation, well directed by Gilbert and with gorgeous location cinematography by Otto Heller. It does all get a little melodramatic, and Welles doesn't help, but it is a film one remembers with affection.
