Fahrenheit 451 (1966)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: col 112m
Director: François Truffaut
Cast: Oskar Werner, Cyril Cusack, Julie Christie

Synopsis:

In a society of the future books are outlawed and the fireman's role is to burn them. One such man begins to have doubts about his vocation and joins a secret organization bent on preserving literature through the oral tradition.

Review:

Truffaut's English film has an off-kilter ear for dialogue and delivery, but the limited budget is well spent, there is striking use of colour, the score is one of Herrmann's best and the performances are judged about right with Christie in a dual role. It is full of those pleasing little details and ironies that characterize good science fiction.
