Country: DK
Technical: col 104m
Director: Lars Von Trier
Cast: Michael Elphick, Esmond Knight, Me Me Lai

Synopsis:

A detective returns to Europe after some years absence in Egypt, revisits his old mentor and is set on the trail of a serial killer of lotto girls. For inspiration he studies the eponymous work, a tract devoted to the criminal mind, and follows in the footsteps of one deceased Harry Grey for clues. At the same time he pines for his wife, whom he has left behind, and seeks solace with an oriental whore.

Review:

Sepia hued private eye homage, full of in-jokes and references to other cineastes' work for those minded to seek them out. The rest of us are too busy trying to orient ourselves amid the obfuscating dialogue and narration, the metaphor-heavy visuals, to notice.
