The Edge of the World (1937)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: bw 80m
Director: Michael Powell
Cast: Niall MacGinnis, Belle Chrystall, John Laurie

Synopsis:

A dramatized observation of the life of the inhabitants of the remote Scottish island of Foula.

Review:

The various human dramas are somewhat underwritten and do not really involve, perhaps through the desire to retain some documentary effect. Conversely the film gains in brevity and lack of portentousness. Powell revisited the rugged little island in 1978 and filmed bookend sequences, entitling the new film Return to the Edge of the World.
