L'école des facteurs (1947)

(The School for Postmen)

Country: FR
Technical: bw 14m
Director: Jacques Tati
Cast: Jacques Tati, Paul Demange

Synopsis:

A French postmen flies the flag for his nation's pre-eminence in speed of delivery.

Review:

Tati tries out his character of the postman who would feature in Jour de Fête two years later and uses similar music and even some of the same footage. One gag involving a bell rope comes off well, but alas the very easy-going elaborateness which makes the latter film so leisurely paced (clearly impossible here) is the key to Tati's art.
