Executive Decision (1996)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: Technicolor/scope 132m
Director: Stuart Baird
Cast: Kurt Russell, Halle Berry, John Leguizamo, Steven Seagal, Oliver Platt, David Suchet, J. T. Walsh

Synopsis:

American Intelligence traces highly toxic nerve gas to a transatlantic jumbo jet which has been hijacked by an Islamic extremist who demands the release of a confederate in exchange for not destroying Washington. However, the kidnapping had been acquiesced at and he secretly intends to strike a blow for Allah, so commandos set about boarding the aircraft by stealth.

Review:

Politically naïve (though Suchet's understated villain goes some way towards attenuating this impression) rehash of elements of Die Hard, Passenger 57, Airport 75 and even Mission Impossible. Entertaining in its way, but oddly cast, with an action man who is killed before he does anything, and another action man, cast as a penpusher, who takes over.
