Elling (2001)

£0.00

Country: NOR
Technical: col 89m
Director: Petter Næss
Cast: Per Christian Ellefsen, Sven Nordin, Marit Pia Jacobsen, Jørgen Langhelle, Per Christensen

Synopsis:

Two asylum inmates, the one a sex-obsessed gentle giant, the other an agoraphobe with a fear of new relationships, are set up in a halfway house to see if they can integrate into society and after false starts both make astounding progress.

Review:

A feelgood film which nevertheless avoids the sentimental pitfalls of its Hollywood equivalents, or at least they are not so noticeable because the characters all look so ordinary and believable. It was a huge commercial success in its native country and charmed many abroad.
