Death of a Cyclist (1955)
(Muerte de un ciclista)
Country: SP/IT
Technical: bw 85m
Director: Juan Antonio Bardem
Cast: Lucia Bose, Alberto Closas, Otello Toso
Synopsis:
An adulterous couple knock down a cyclist and are torn apart by fear, guilt and finally self-preservation.
Review:
A film which tells its highly moral tale cinematically, using subjective effects and atmospheric, Herrmannesque music. Despite touches of Hitchcock and Antonioni, however, it is not quite a world classic, and its undoubted seriousness of purpose is compromised by censorship constraints.
