Review:
Perhaps the best film of Welles's 'années de pèlerinage', certainly his best Shakespeare, shot in Spain on a shoestring budget as always. The cinematography captures the earthiness and at times unearthliness of medieval times, and directorial sleight of hand disguises the penury of extras in the battle scenes.
