Carry on Doctor (1967)
Country: GB
Technical: col 94m
Director: Gerald Thomas
Cast: Frankie Howerd, Sidney James, Kenneth Williams, Charles Hawtrey, Joan Sims, Bernard Bresslaw, Barbara Windsor, Hattie Jacques, Jim Dale, Anita Harris
Synopsis:
Autocratic and lecherous hospital administrator, Dr. Tinkle, conspires with his infatuated Matron to get rid of popular young Dr. Kilmore, but the patients revolt.
Review:
The one with the nurses sunbathing on the roof and Hattie Jacques being given a bedbath, this return to hospital territory for the team was quickly followed by two more (Again Doctor and Matron) and provided some new opportunity for fleeting nudity and gags involving catheters and enemas. The vindictiveness and unreality of the revolt against Tinkle and Matron prompt reminiscences of Vincent Price horror flicks and remind us of the intellectual nursery that the series ritually represented.
