A Cry in the Dark (1988)
Country: AUS
Technical: col 121m
Director: Fred Schepisi
Cast: Meryl Streep, Sam Neill
Synopsis:
A reconstruction of the notorious 'dingo-baby' case, which hit Australia's headlines throughout the 80s.
Review:
Besides the incidents befalling the hapless family at the centre of the story, the film contains dozens of tiny scenes conveying the reaction to events of people all over Australia. Being so unique a 'fait divers', the drama heightens the unsalutary way in which the media batten on events of no real concern to the public at large. Very skilfully arranged and acted, by Streep.
