Tarantino's Eight and a Half

In the film's motivating scene, Pacino's bar owner cum no.1 fan warns DiCaprio's TV star that the writing is on the wall of his career.

Quentin Tarantino's movie #8 'and a half' (Death Proof being only half a show) is, appropriately enough, both a film about Hollywood, and a story of a career in crisis (cf. Otto e mezzo). One wonders whether he is aware of this coincidence (let's not misuse the word 'irony' - unless he is not, in which case it would be ironic.) The comparison is compounded by the fact that Rob Marshall's musical reworking of the Fellini film was called Nine, (whereas Tarantino calls this his 'Ninth'). But then I suspect he was never much of a European film fan.
