Le beau Serge (1958)

£0.00

Country: FR
Technical: bw 97m
Director: Claude Chabrol
Cast: Gérard Blain, Jean-Claude Brialy, Bernadette Lafont, Michèle Méritz

Synopsis:

A young man returns to his home-town, only to find his childhood friend has lost his optimism and turned alcoholic.

Review:

Chabrol's first feature, which he made back to back and with the same actors as Les cousins, and with which he financed the latter, was not one he had much time for. However, it is perhaps closer to the New Wave than any of his subsequent films, in its rawness and compassion for its characters.
