Country: FR
Technical: col 93m
Director: Bertrand Blier
Cast: Gérard Depardieu, Bernard Blier, Jean Carmet, Michel Serrault, Carole Bouquet

Synopsis:

An unemployed young man driven insomniac by nightmares suspects he may have knifed an accountant in the Métro. Shortly after he meets a police inspector inhabiting his deserted Défense apartment block, his wife is murdered and the murderer makes himself known to him. Together the three are involved in a series of misadventures, culminating in their demise at the hands of the original victim's daughter.

Review:

Inconsequential black comedy along surrealist principles, which has as its themes urban alienation and the cheapness of human life in the modern world. Its director was to take up the mantle laid down by Buñuel in satirising movie genres and reversing expectations.
