Broken Arrow (1950)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 92m
Director: Delmer Daves
Cast: James Stewart, Jeff Chandler, Debra Paget

Synopsis:

A tracker tries to make peace between Apache chief Cochise and white settlers in Arizona territory.

Review:

Who knows which was the first Western with 'good Indians', but Daves' film generally gets the badge. It may use white actors for its two important speaking roles, but it successfully stirs up long overdue sentiment in favour of the enfranchisement of the native American. In Stewart it had just the spokesman it needed. Chief Dan George, Will Sampson and Graham Greene would have to wait their turn.
